Family photos

Hi all. I think about 100% of the people who subscribe to this little newsletter are people I would consider friends, so I might add more family photos/news in the future. Perhaps I’ll “redact” some of that in the web archive of the newsletter, I’m not sure.
Anyway, here we all are at our house for the holidays. Luke and Hanna have been seeing each other for a while now and it’s fun to have her visiting our house often. Luke is planning to move out next month to live with a friend in a house here in Colorado Springs—he’s a junior at CC. Nick is applying to colleges, mostly small liberal arts colleges in the midwest that have tuition exchanges with CC.
Depression on Drugs
I have posted about depression before. I’m mostly doing pretty good—Lexapro “works” for me. But this time of year, which is always the hardest for my seasonal depression, it’s kind of interesting to see how the medication keeps me from really sinking deep into feeling bad, but can’t keep me from feeling like I’m just spinning my wheels. It’s hard to get anything done, and I want to sleep a lot, and I don’t feel very good about anything, but I also don’t feel too bad either. Like, I got all my Christmas shopping done already! But I don’t know if I have done an hour of real work all month.
Anyway, things are OK, but I’m looking forward to getting on the other side of the solstice.
Posters
With the help of my friend and teacher, Aaron Cohick, I printed a few letterpress posters this year, one defiant, one hopeful.

Jack-O’-Lanterns
The harvest from the garden was a bit uneven/disappointing this year, but I did get two perfect, large pumpkins for carving. Shanon and I carved the one on the right, Luke and Hanna the one on the left. (Nick opted out. We did ask.) There was controversy as to whether jack-o’-lanterns can have arms (they absolutely cannot).

Coming Up: Year-End Nonsense
I’m planning to give you my year-end lists of books, music, and other media I enjoyed this year, so we all have that to look forward to.
